She lived in the top of an apartment building and on the bottom of the apartment was her dad's pasta shop. She had a great life with her sister, that loved and cared for her.
Then when she was 18 she got brain cancer. The doctors tried everything, but nothing worked. Her family was devastated. They cried and prayed for her every night. Then on December 16th, 1892. A nurse came into her room and said, "You have a visitor." She nodded to the nurse and just layed there thinking, "Who would want to visit ME?" Then, a strange man came in and walked up to her bed.
She was very weak that day, So Laurine couldn't speak or move. He touched her neck. Then, she felt a sharp pain in her neck and she realized that he just bit her! After a few days she found out that she was turned into a vampire.
After Laurine Dover was turned into a vampire by a strange man who bit her in the hospital took her away from the many people there. He left her on a deserted farm that had been destroyed by a fire months ago. There he left her forever with. She was left alone in the world with an addiction to blood. Especially human blood, but she didn't want to be a murderer of people of her once human life. So she decided to move out of the country as far as possible away from her family.
Laurine swam across the ocean (After finding she could swim without breathing) from Rome, Italy to Vancouver, Canada. She hoped to meet someone who was a vampire. To teach her how to drink blood, but not human blood.

Laurine smiled. She was going to get away from Rome and leave her family safe forever. All she wanted was her blood and couldn't let herself have it or any of the people she knows blood. She would run or swim for years straight if she had too. After finding she could swim under the water with no air she'd become determined to get to Canada and settle in a deserted, woodsy place away from humans.
She took one more glance behind her at the only broken down farm house she'd once lived in and jumped into the water. It did not bother her not to breath, yet she missed smelling all the exiting smells of land. It was a tad bit uncomfortable, but she had to do it for her family's sake. With a new hope she disappeared into the water of the ocean toward Canada.
