Seattle has been plagued by a series of unexplained murders. Tension in forks is rising, but Bella Swan has more problems to worry about. Not only having the revengeful vampire Victoria after her blood but choosing her love for vampire Edward Cullen, and her devoted, loving friendship, with werewolf Jacob Black.

The clouds were hovering low over the coast line, fog was spreading closer and closer towards La Push and the continuous beat of paws against bare earth was all that could be heard as Jacob passed through the trees that afternoon. His earthy red coat blew back and forth as the boy ran, keeping the pace in his head of the beats and breaks between each paw and their fluid motions. His ears stayed erect listening to the surroundings as he battled the war raging in his mind. Paul and Embry were at it again, he would of silently prayed for his hoped outcome in the battle but knew the rest of the pack would hear. The lack of privacy when he was a wolf was intolerable at times.
As he reached the end of the wood heading back towards the cliffs he halted and gave his position to the remainder of the pack. "It's clear where I am. I'm going to head down to the cliffs for a bit. I'll see you for the next shift Sam." He nodded before changing back into his human form, instantly his mind drew silent, no more Paul or Embry yelling at each other, and no more Leah yelling at them to shut up. His mind was finally once again his own to think and divulge into as he wished.
He peeled the warn shorts from his leg and placed them over areas that should be covered while being human and in public. Not that there was anyone else around but the idea was still there in his mind. Who knew, perhaps Bella would take time from seeing her Bloodsuckers and come visit him, just the thought of that brought a smile to his now very human lips.
He glanced down at the river far from where he stood now at the top of the cliff. He was a daredevil perhaps; some might say that, some might just call him a werewolf. Either way he had a crazy side; this was just his way of expressing that. Almost instantaneously he took to large steps backward and started running full speed threw himself over the cliff and formed himself into the perfect cannon ball position. With a loud splash he hit the water like a thousand bricks at once. The thrill was unimaginable and it sent chills running up his spine. He could feel the adrenaline pumping as he brought himself above the ice cold water for air. He swam his best against the current to a rock in the middle of the river, his rock.
Jacob threw himself out of the water and sprawled out on the rather large sized rock, almost already dry from the intense heat that his body produced. The fog was all around him now, looking up to where he just jumped from; the cliff was no longer visible. This to him was peace, tranquility. This would be his life without Bella; Alone, wandering the woods as a wolf, dyeing inside as a human, trying to forget it all at the river. He was doomed to live a life without her so long as she was determined to give hers up to become a vampire.
All he wanted to do right now was escape, to run away and forget it all, to sacrifice the human in him and live out the rest of his immortal life as a wolf. But would that really do him any good? Would that save Bella? No. He had to save her, he had to try. She was the world to him and just sitting on that rock by himself he could not imagine living forever without her by his side. Life was a lonely one, immortality was supposed to be the greatest thing a person could ever have, but what is it when the one you love the most- loves the one who you hate with a passion?

Leah was sick of them, stupid idiotic boys, why were they such pains? why?! She let out another growl as Paul and Embry started to argue once again. [Will you guys just cut it out. Do you always have to argue?] she snapped at them, she was extremely irritable today, she'd had enough of having to listen to them argue all the time and she was sick of Paul starting on her over Ryker, she was ready to turn on him and ripe his throat out but Sam had heard her thoughts and used the 'Alpha Voice' to tell her she wasn't aloud.
She hated that so much, ok, so Sam didn't fill her thoughts every minute of every day any more and she was glad that she had Ryker, heck you could even call her happy. Well not quite, she still hated having Sam in her head when they phased and she hated it when she see flashes of Emily come into his mind or the odd look at her, checking if she was truly ok. And the orders, that was the worse thing, being told what to do by someone you used to love. She understood that the love had evaporated and truly it had, but it didn't mean she wasn't still a little bitter about how he'd hurt her, that wasn't gone. Paul and Embry had begun to argue once again and she let out another growl and she headed towards the forest edge. [I'm out guys. I'll be back for night shift Embry. If you need me I'll be on the beach or at home] she said simply before phasing out.
Pulling on her demin shorts and bikini top she made her way slowly towards the waters edge, no shoes as usual, she had never been one to wear shoes that often and since her change she'd worn them less, why ruin perfectly good shoes in a quick phase? Her point exactly, she walked slowly around to a secluded area of the beach, very few went there and it was why she liked it. Plopping down into the sand she let out a soft sigh and her bright eyes went to the water, her mind began to wander, it was funny how she had fallen so quickly for Ryker and yet there was still that part of her that loved him. A loud splash pulled her from her thoughts and she lifted her gaze to watch as Jacob smaw over to a rock and sprawled out.
She watched the Jacob for a moment, it was strange how much they had in common how they could have been such good friends. She kept her gaze on Jacob and let out a soft sigh, why did she have to be such a pregnant dog towards them all? It was a defense mechanism she knew that but it was hard to change them now, old habits die hard! She knew what it was like to love someone and loose them, she'd lost Sam and he'd lost Bella, but atleast he hadn't lost Bella to a relative, that was one thing.

He had been so focussed on his thoughts, and focussed on forgetting the unforgettable that he didn't even notice who lurked above him. Leah apparently had been close by on her own route, one that he didn't really pay attention to for the fact that he didn't really care. Even SHE imprinted on someone! He honestly thought that would of changed her attitude but apparently not, she was still the cold heartless dog that she was all along, it was at times like this he wondered if she even remembered what being nice was. There was time a few years back that he knew Leah, and actually liked Leah, because surprise surprise- she was actually nice!
But Leah was not the one on his mind, she was only there by force most of the time rather than by choice. She was one of the main reasons being a wolf drove him insane, but being a wolf did have its good advantages too. For instance, Bella was never cold around him, and if she were it was only to easy to warm her up. Unlike her fiancé, who could just give her pneumonia by standing beside her.
He glanced around his surroundings not really caring what was there, but figured it was worth a look just in case something was trying to kill him, and that’s when he saw those cold blue eyes staring back at him. It was rare to see such fiery deadly blue eyes on a woman, but Leah had that down pat, she always seemed too lately.
"Are you just going to keep staring at me, or are you going to actually say something?" he growled in her direction, he wasn't really in the mood for talking, but if she wasn't going to go away it was better to talk than to just sit there knowing she was staring for no good reason. "Where's Ryker? Aren't you usually stalking him?" He said rolling his eyes casually at the thought before looking away from her and back to the sky.

Leah was lost in a world of thoughts, everything was running through her mind but the main thing was wondering why she had to be a d**n wolf! She liked the fact that she was one of the only females and heck she'd probably enjoy the whole thing if it wasn't for Sam! A low growl escaped her lips as her thoughts changed course. She understood that Sam hadn't done what he did to hurt her and she understood what it was like to imprint, but she hated having him in her head, hating listening to him control her!
Her eye's had unfocused as her thoughts had consumed her but Jacobs words had brought her crashing back down to earth, focusing her eyes on him she let out another growl and her gaze turned into a glare "I wasn't staring at you. In case you hadn't noticed Jacob the whole world doesn't revolve around you" she snapped giving him a very cold glare. She shifted her weight and was going to get up and leave, get some peace elsewhere when Jacob spoke once again. Another growl left her lips, this one louder, she knew that Jacob would hear it and she didn't care. Why did everyone have to start on her about her imprint? No-one had said anything to Jared, heck no-one had said anything to Quil and he'd imprinted on a 2 year old!
She pushed herself up off the stand, her bright eyes cold and hard as she looked at Jacob "I don't stalk him, and he's sleeping, he was on night patrol last night. What about you, why aren't you off stalking Bella, trying to convince her you're better than the leech?" low blow? Perhaps, but why should she care, he'd started it and she was going to give as good as she got and finish it. She could feel herself quivering and she tried to calm herself, she didn't want to phase here and now, it wasn't a good idea.

Jake rolled his eyes when Leah started talking, why had he bothered to talk to her? Life was so much more peaceful without her droning on about some stupid thing. "Yeah, the world doesn't revolve around me, but I know for a fact that it's not shoved up your ass, you may want to start acting like its not." With that he got up from his comfortable position on the rock and jumped into the water and swam to shore. Within moments of touching the land he was basically dry again, that was another good thing about being a wolf.
Okay so maybe she had a point, Ryker, god bless his soul for loving her, was sleeping. He still couldn't figure out how this happened, it was really beyond him to try to comprehend but he just was glad the two of them could keep their minds to themselves about that whilst in wolf form. "Don't talk about her." He said flatly, Leah knew how much that irritated him and he knew she was only pushing buttons because she could, which is why he was trying not to let it faze him.
Bella was a deeply involved part of his life that refused to be a part of his life anymore, simple as that, and he was not going to let her kill herself. He was dead set on that fact, whether anyone else liked it or not. "I was just joking Leah. Lighten up for once in your immortal life, maybe you should learn to laugh again, you used to be good at it." He ran a hand through his damp black hair before walking past her looking at the cliff before contemplating whether he could climb it or whether he should just walk the path.
